The last day in Saigon

Today was our last full day in HCMC, my last proper day of holidays (at least for now).

L feeling a whole lot better, not 100% though, so after a pretty good hotel breakfast (pho, and lots of other little bites — and unlike the last hotel, no baconfail) we headed out for a wander and last shop. L got a Vietnam starbucks mug to add to her stash. Wandered into a swanky mall, lots of european designer brands and prices similar to Perth before heading off for another massage.

We went with the 90 minute body massage, and it was quite relaxing if with a bit of stretching thrown in. Hot rocks and being walked on, too. A leisurely wander back to the hotel where we had afternoon tea in the lounge for lunch, some lovely little ciabata and other rolls for me. Then a nap in the room, followed by the exec lounge nibbles for dinner. Two alcohol free days in a row, and more of a snacking day than a gluttony day. What’s with that?

Hopped on the scales the hotel kindly provides in its rooms this morning, and I’m up about 5kg from my lowest, maybe 3kg up from the start of the trip. Not as bad as I’d imagined, but enough to spur me to getting back on the exercise regime once we get home — even before we get home, as I did 30 minutes on the bike at the hotel gym after the light dinner.

I should probably mention the cake. Aside from all the healthy stuff, the hotel gave us a small heart shaped cake this afternoon, with “Happy HoneyMoon” on the plate. Quite a nice coffee cake with lots of cream.

So a quiet day, but a good lead in to tomorrow’s day of transit, where we’ll be leaving the hotel around 9am and then should hit Perth by midnight. It’s also World Whisky Day, but doubt I’ll be drinking much due to where I’ll be (might have a nip of black label somewhere). I will be buying some whisky tomorrow, at the shops at Changi, so that can be my celebration.

I’ll try to do a tour round up post in the next day, but otherwise, I’d like to thank my 20 or so readers for bearing with me through these travels.
