Transit: Changi Airport, Singapore

Global lounge hopping. Got to check out the KrisFlyer lounge at Perth Airport, now in the Gold KrisFlyer Lounge at Changi. Airport lounges are, to use the words of Jason Fischer, a place of “free toast”. I didn’t actually check if the Perth one had a toaster, but it had food basics (bread, sushi, noodles, rice, curry, bombay sapphire) everything a growing traveller needs.

The flight was fine, and came with the luckiest of luxuries — a spare middle seat, so I had a bit of extra room. The flight was at 1.10am, so we didn’t get dinner (thankfully) but did get breakfast.

The Gold KrisFlyer lounge at Changi is a little misleading, as there’s also a Silver KrisFlyer lounge. You’d think that gold would be better than silver, right? Not here. The Silver Lounge is for the upper levels of Singapore Airlines frequent flyers, while the Gold lounge is for partner airline flyers and the like. It’s still free food and drink and comfy chairs and wifi, but the toilets are outside and there are no showers. There is, however, all the fish congee anyone could ever want to eat.

Next stop, LHR.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention that google, in all of its infiltrating, has worked out that someone is trying to access my account in Singapore. Unfortunately they haven’t worked out it’s me. Can find no easy solution, so will sort it when I get to London.

Also, huge apologies to the Gold KrisFlyer lounge member that has to clean up after a stupid tired clumsy barbarian tipped his plate of noodles and prawn dumplings on the floor. Sorry about that.
